Punjab Food Authority Discards Hundreds of KGs of Unhealthy Meat in Lahore

During a raid on an illegal slaughterhouse in Lahore, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) arrested several individuals involved in supplying unhealthy meat to various parts of the city.

According to details, PFA officials seized and discarded 800 kilograms of meat from sick animals. A case has been filed against the arrested individuals.

DG Food Authority Asim Javed disclosed that the sick and dead animals were hidden in a truck. An investigation against the group has been launched.

Javed further revealed that the unhygienic meat was being supplied to various areas. He assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the crime.

Last month, the food authority discarded 2,480 kg of unhygienic meat of sick chicken during a crackdown in Lahore.

The teams inspected 23 food establishments and 63 chicken transport vehicles carrying 85,000 kg of meat. They also imposed a total fine of Rs. 170,000 on nine food business operators during a daylong operation.

According to the PFA Director General, action was taken against poultry shops in Tollinton Market for keeping substandard meat in their warehouse.
