Criminals have also found other ways to use technology for crime. The police have uncovered a sophisticated drug trafficking system that uses Google Maps to operate. These criminals use a method called the “Location Network” where the GPS location of the drugs is shared through Google Maps and communicated through a messaging app. This eliminates the need for face-to-face deals or couriers.

The drug traffickers conceal narcotics at designated locations across cities and villages. These locations are photographed and shared via WhatsApp, facilitating communication between the smugglers and primary dealers within the district.

A Khyber resident, Owal Gul, confessed to his involvement in a drug distribution network operating in Sialkot, Punjab. He was recruited by major drug dealers to facilitate the distribution process.

Gul characterized the drug operation as a highly organized system with extensive networks operating both domestically and internationally. These networks prioritize minimal physical interaction to enhance security.
