In April, UK mobile carrier EE inadvertently listed a device labeled “Samsung Galaxy S24 FE” with the model number SM-S721U. Subsequently, Samsung France established a support page for the SM-S721B model, confirming the imminent release of the Fan Edition device. Given that “U” typically denotes US variants and “B” signifies European models, the EE listing is believed to be an error.
Furthermore, the SM-S721B model number has appeared in a Geekbench benchmark, revealing the device’s utilization of the Exynos 2400 chipset paired with 8 GB of RAM. Notably, this is the same processor powering the European and other variants of the Galaxy S24 and S24+ smartphones.
Unlike the previous Galaxy S23 FE, which featured a chipset one generation behind the flagship S23 series, the upcoming S24 FE is expected to align with the main series by utilizing the Exynos 2400 processor. This marks a return to the chipset strategy employed in the S21 FE and S20 FE models.
The Samsung France support page references the SM-S721B/DS model, indicating a dual-SIM variant. This implies physical SIM card slots and an embedded SIM (eSIM) capability.
Recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy S24 FE will incorporate the same 50MP, 1/1.57-inch camera sensor found in the S24 and S24+ models. The remaining camera specifications may also align with the flagship devices. The S24 FE is expected to be available in six color options: Mint, Cream, Purple, Indigo, Graphite, and Tangerine.
While initial predictions placed the Galaxy S24 FE announcement in late 2024, some reports suggest a potential launch in early 2025. Considering the recent unveiling of the Samsung France support page, an earlier release is increasingly likely. For reference, the S23 FE was unveiled on October 5, 2023.
