Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a special Independence Day promotion, offering a 14% discount on all tickets purchased by August 14.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the national airline will offering a 14% discount on domestic flights. The spokesperson added that passengers can buy the discounted tickets right away.
The announcement of discounted domestic air tickets comes just a day after the national flag carrier revealed a similar discount on flights to Toronto.
A PIA spokesperson announced that the 14% discount applies to all seat bookings made from August 1 to 14. Passengers who book within this period can use the discounted fares for travel between August 15 and November 14.
In a separate news, a report on Friday revealed that at least 38 PIA planes were struck by birds in the first six months of 2024.
According to the report, 38 incidents occurred between January and June, affecting flights in Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Sukkur, Jeddah, and Dubai. Of these, five planes experienced significant damage, while 33 planes remained largely unaffected.
The damaged PIA aircraft include an Airbus 320 and three Boeing 777s. Bird strikes are a common issue globally, particularly in Pakistan. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been conducting campaigns to maintain cleanliness around airport areas to address this problem.
