A new project has been initiated to boost tourism in Murree, focusing on the expansion of the main highway connecting Rawalpindi, Murree, and Kashmir.
The project is budgeted at approximately Rs. 1.2 billion and involves the construction of a 17-kilometre road stretching from Rawalpindi to Sunny Bank in Murree.
Tenders for the construction work have been issued via the e-tender platform, with a deadline set for August 17.
As part of the annual development program (ADP), the road construction will be carried out in phases over six months, with work beginning from both ends concurrently.
To enhance the area’s natural environment, the plan includes tree planting along the road. The selection will feature fruit trees and native pine trees, along with fruit-bearing plants representative of the Pothohar region’s culture.
The plan also includes creating rest areas along the road for travelers, with solar-powered street lighting to ensure energy-efficient illumination.

Thanks but we don’t want more cutting of trees it’s already very empty already
1.2 Billion should be paid back to IMF instead of Road expansions, we dont need roads expansion on credit. Once we payback our loan, then roads can be expanded.
Actually our Politicians, Bureaucrauts, establishment doesnt want the country to get rid from the foreign fundings.
The beauty that tourists travel to our hilly areas to witness is slowly being destroyed by our incompetent and selfish administrators. Whether the nature trails are long or short, they are a walk. By widening the roads, the flow of traffic does not improve, but by staying in a straight lane, by reducing the obstacles, the traffic does not stop and then the time is not wasted anywhere.
