Hamid Mir Files Case At Islamabad High Court Against Installation of Internet Firewall

A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court challenging the installation of a firewall and internet disruption, citing a violation of citizens’ fundamental rights.

Senior journalist Hamid Mir submitted the plea through his lawyer, Iman Mazari, seeking protection of basic human rights affected by the firewall.

The petition argues that the firewall installation infringes upon citizens’ right to freedom of expression and access to information. It demands that the court halt the installation process until all stakeholders are consulted and fundamental rights are ensured. Additionally, the petition seeks recognition of internet access as a fundamental human right essential for livelihood.
