The City Traffic Police (CTP) has developed a detailed alternate traffic plan to facilitate both citizens and cricket fans during the Pakistan vs Bangladesh test matches, scheduled from August 18 to August 25, 2024, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

A total of 367 police officers and wardens will be deployed to manage traffic on alternate routes and assist the public during the Bangladesh-Pakistan matches. Information banners have been placed on major roads to inform citizens about alternative routes and parking options.

Traffic updates will be provided through official social media pages and FM radio stations.

The Cricket Stadium has issued a detailed traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic management during the matches.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima mentioned that 367 additional officers and officials from the traffic police will be on duty during the matches, including 08 DSPs/Circle In-charges, 40 Inspectors/Sector In-charges, and over 318 traffic wardens and junior wardens.

Special arrangements have been made for the movement of cricket teams, including alternative routes and five designated parking areas.

The administration will also provide a shuttle service.

During the arrival and departure of the cricket teams, Murree Road will be completely closed from Faizabad to Double Road.

According to the traffic diversion plan, traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be able to enter Islamabad via 6th Road and Saidpur Road, while traffic from Ghousia Chowk will be diverted to Farooq Azam Road and Curry Road.

During the match, Cricket Stadium Road will be closed to traffic in both directions from the 9th Avenue intersection to the Double Road turn.

Traffic from Islamabad’s 9th Avenue can enter Rawalpindi through Faizabad Expressway and IJP Road from Pandora Chongi, Katarian, Carriage Factory, and Pirwadhai Moor. Traffic can also enter Islamabad from Faizabad via Murree Road.

CTO Beenish Fatima emphasized that alternative routes will be set up on the main highways of Rawalpindi to ensure the convenience of citizens and to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

Awareness banners about parking will be displayed to assist citizens.

Real-time traffic updates will be available through the traffic police’s official social media pages and FM radio stations.

She further stated that CTP Rawalpindi is dedicated to ensuring the convenience of citizens, the security of the cricket teams, and the smooth flow of traffic. She also highlighted the importance of citizen cooperation in making these efforts successful.
