The Auditor General’s report has unveiled a significant lapse in security, revealing that weapons worth Rs. 1.5 million have been stolen from the Sindh Reserve Police.
The theft, attributed to severe negligence, involved the loss of 2 rifles, 5 submachine guns (SMGs), and 7 9mm pistols.
The report highlights concerns over the management and security practices within the police force, raising questions about the protocols for safeguarding valuable equipment.
The report also revealed that about 950 rounds of ammunition were among the stolen items. However, relevant authorities have not yet issued a report regarding the missing weapons.
The audit has called for an investigation into the recovery of these stolen arms, emphasizing the need for a detailed examination and appropriate measures to address the security lapse.
In separate news, a few weeks ago, dacoits stole parts of a CT scan machine and other equipment from a Sindh government hospital in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi.
According to reports, thieves took wiring, circuits, UPS units, batteries, and other essential parts from the Advanced Trauma Centre, where a CT scan machine costing over Rs. 10 million was installed. However, sources claim that the investigation into the theft has been halted by influential figures.
