CDA to Spend Rs. 1.2 Million Buying Cats to Get Rid of Rats in Parliament House

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to employ hunting cats to address the persistent rat infestation plaguing the Parliament House.

According to sources within the CDA, a budget of Rs. 12 lakh has been allocated for this unique pest control measure. The plan involves utilizing the natural predatory instincts of hunting cats to catch and exterminate rats within the premises. In addition to deploying these feline hunters, the CDA will install special netted windows designed to trap rats and prevent their entry into sensitive areas.

The rat infestation has been attributed to the sealing of ceilings within the Parliament House, which has inadvertently created an ideal environment for rats to thrive. These rodents have been causing significant damage across various departments of the Senate and the National Assembly, including gnawing through important files and documents in several offices.

A spokesperson for the National Assembly confirmed the CDA’s commitment to eradicating the rat problem. “The CDA will take action to eradicate rats,” the spokesperson stated, emphasizing the urgency and importance of addressing this issue to maintain the operational efficiency of the Parliament House.

The decision to use hunting cats reflects a creative approach to pest control, leveraging natural predators to manage the rat population. This method is expected to be both effective and environmentally friendly, reducing the need for chemical interventions.

As the plan is set into motion, the CDA and its partners will closely monitor the situation to assess the effectiveness of the hunting cats and other measures.
