A young man lost his life in a fatal accident on Sunday involving a vehicle driven by a Chinese national, within the Margalla Police Station’s jurisdiction.
According to reports, the incident was caused by a burst tire on the Chinese driver’s car, which led to the vehicle swerving and colliding with the young man.
The accident happened on the road adjacent to Mehran Gate, F-9 Park, in the New Blue Area along Jinnah Avenue. The victim, estimated to be around 22 or 23 years old, was identified as Waliullah from Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Chinese national driving the vehicle was injured in the crash. In June, the Islamabad police launched an investigation against a British embassy official who hit a constable while violating traffic rules.
A police officer revealed that the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) had requested the interior ministry to contact the Foreign Office for information regarding the status of the UK High Commission staff member involved in the incident. The DIG’s letter asked for clarification on whether she was a diplomat or support staff and if she had diplomatic immunity.
According to details, a speeding vehicle ran a red light and collided with a motorcycle at Radio Pakistan Chowk. The motorcyclist, who was later identified as a police officer, was injured in the accident, and his motorcycle was severely damaged, breaking into two pieces.
