Elderly Man Reportedly Commits Suicide Due to High Electricity Bill

An elderly man reportedly took his own life by stepping in front of a train, allegedly due to his inability to pay a high electricity bill. The incident occurred on the railway tracks in Faisalabad, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The victim, identified as Fida Hussain, was found dead on the railway tracks after reportedly stepping in front of an oncoming train. Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing moment and immediately alerted the authorities. Railway and Millat Town police arrived promptly, securing the area and conducting necessary legal formalities before handing over Hussain’s body to his family.

Residents have suggested that Hussain’s suicide was driven by financial distress, specifically his inability to pay an electricity bill amounting to Rs. 20,000. Neighbors described him as visibly distressed in the days leading up to the incident, expressing frustration over the mounting utility costs he could not afford on his limited income.

Despite the claims from residents, police officials have stated that no concrete evidence was found at the scene to confirm the exact motive behind Hussain’s suicide. The absence of a suicide note or any direct indication of his financial struggles has left the investigation open, with authorities urging caution against drawing premature conclusions.
