Govt Restructures Boards of 4 More Distribution Companies

The federal government has dissolved the boards of four more state-owned electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) and established new boards as part of an ongoing restructuring effort.

So far, nine out of the eleven DISCOs across the country have been restructured. Sources said Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), and Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) were the latest DISCOs to get new board members.

The new board members will serve for a three-year term.

The Board Nominations Committee under the Energy Minister’s supervision recommended the changes after analyzing the performance of the existing boards. It bears mentioning that earlier, boards of FESCO, IESCO, MEPCO, and LESCO were first reconstituted soon after the Federal Cabinet approved the formation of new boards for DISCOs on June 24.
