Pakistan’s left-handed middle-order batter, Saud Shakeel, has etched his name in the history books by breaking the long-standing record for the most runs scored by a Pakistani batter after 20 Test innings.
As of his current ongoing innings in the 1st Test match against Bangladesh, Saud has surpassed the previous record held by Saeed Ahmed, marking a remarkable milestone in his young international career.
Saud Shakeel, who is currently batting on 113 in Pakistan’s first innings against Bangladesh, has now accumulated 1,080 runs in just 20 Test innings. This incredible feat has come at an impressive average of 67.50, underscoring his consistency and reliability in the longest format of the game.
The record he broke was previously held by Saeed Ahmed, who amassed 1,033 runs at an average of 54.37 in his first 20 Test innings—a record that had stood for the most part of Pakistan cricket history.
This achievement places Saud Shakeel in an elite group of Pakistani batters who made an impactful start to their Test careers. Alongside Saeed Ahmed, the list includes legends such as Javed Miandad, Abdullah Shafique, and Sadiq Mohammad.
