Teams from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and the Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) conducted a large-scale operation against parking violations in the city, sealing around 70 properties on Thursday.
The operation was initiated under the directives of LDA Director General Tahir Farooq. The TEPA Enforcement Wing targeted areas including Faisal Town Main Boulevard, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, PIA Road, Shadiwal to Khokhar Chowk, Johar Town, and surrounding localities.
Among the sealed properties were well-known brands, tire shops, showrooms, private offices, schools, shops, and food establishments. The list also included private banks, restaurants, clinics, bakeries, and coffee shops, all of which had encroached on designated parking spaces.
In a related development, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited the area from Nursery Stop to Chandni Chowk near Peco Road Sattokatla Drain. Assistant Commissioner Model Town, Sahibzada Yusuf, briefed him on the ongoing operation against encroachments. He reported that encroachments around Chandni Chowk Drain had been removed from Nursery Stop, and the road had been widened. The District Administration and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) were engaged in tree plantation at the site. The LDA DG reviewed the progress and directed further actions to improve citizen convenience.
Additionally, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited the LDA Citizen Facilitation Centre (One Window Cell) to review the daily applications and the progress of sifted and non-sifted files. Director of the Citizen Facilitation Centre, Rafia Nazir, and Chief Town Planner-I, Asdulzaman, provided a briefing, highlighting that the process of online residential building plan approvals was ongoing. So far, 116 applications have been received, with 29 applicants submitting their challans. All 29 residential building plans have been approved online.
Tahir Farooq noted that the online building plan approval process has greatly benefited citizens, allowing them to get their plans approved from home using the LDA’s mobile app and website. He also took the time to listen to the concerns of citizens present at the Facilitation Centre.
