PM Shehbaz Sets Deadline for Govt Offices to Stop Using Paper

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a meeting on Sunday set a one-month deadline for all government offices to go paperless as part of the new e-office system.

The premier ordered all concerned authorities to ensure the implementation of the e-office system across all government offices within a month. He warned that delays in the transition to paperless office work would not be tolerated and all file work must be conducted through e-office starting next month.

He added that the shift to e-office is crucial for enhancing transparency and improving governance. A progress report on the system’s launch is expected within two weeks.

Shehbaz also said financial packages intended for employees affected by the closure of the Pak Public Works Department (PakPWD) would not extend to those involved in corruption. He ordered that the plan to transfer ongoing PakPWD projects to provincial authorities and relevant departments be expedited and presented soon.

The premier further instructed that the final recommendations on PakPWD’s closure be submitted to the cabinet. He approved an age relaxation proposal aimed at re-employing individuals with brief employment histories in PakPWD.
