Govt Has No Plan to Tax Imported Solar Panels: Minister

Minister of Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari Thursday said that the government has no intention to impose a tax on imported solar panels.

In a brief video message shared by the ministry, the minister said the government is trying to encourage the use of solar panels. He said that there were numerous proposals to tax solar panels but Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif rejected all such proposals.

The minister also pointed out that the government is currently buying expensive electricity from solar net metering users but said that this is being done to incentivize the use of solar systems.
