The Sindh Safe Cities Authority has announced plans to install smart no-parking cameras across Karachi to automatically detect illegally parked vehicles and enable the issuance of electronic traffic challans.
According to the authority, the cameras will be installed at no-parking zones across the city and will identify vehicles parked in violation of traffic rules. The information will be transmitted directly to the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) used by the Karachi Traffic Police.
Director General Sarfaraz Nawaz said vehicle owners found violating no-parking regulations will receive electronic challans through the TRACS system without requiring physical interaction with traffic officers.
He said the initiative is part of the Karachi Safe City Project, under which the Sindh Safe Cities Authority has already established a citywide surveillance network comprising more than 1,300 AI based cameras installed at various locations.
The authority said the new smart no parking cameras will further expand the surveillance network and enable the Karachi Traffic Police to issue real time, faceless e-challans against vehicles parked in prohibited areas.
