The Punjab government has mandated that all government departments implement an online system for tracking employee attendance and leave.
This move, directed by the Chief Secretary of Punjab, is intended to enhance administrative efficiency and transparency. The online system will now require all government staff to log their attendance and request leave through a digital portal.
This initiative is designed to minimize manual errors, decrease paperwork, and offer real-time updates on attendance and leave. The Chief Secretary has also ordered the digitization of Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) to improve performance appraisals and streamline administration.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will handle the rollout of the new online attendance and leave system. PITB will develop the software, offer technical support, and manage the transition to the digital platform.
The new online system is part of Punjab’s efforts to modernize its services. It aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability by using technology.
