FIA Goes After Housing Schemes Using WAPDA’s Name

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has requested records related to eight housing schemes that are unlawfully using the name of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda).

In a letter addressed to the joint registrar of the cooperative department in Lahore, FIA Additional Director Kashif Mustafa Chaudhry informed the authorities about an ongoing investigation into allegations of unauthorized and illegal use of Wapda’s name, logo, and insignia by housing societies operating under the jurisdiction of the Punjab cooperative department.

“Wapda, through its director (legal), submitted a complaint regarding the illegal operations of several housing societies, particularly in Punjab, that are using Wapda’s name and logo without proper authorization,” the letter states.

The FIA has requested details of the schemes, specifically naming ‘Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Societies’ in Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Kasur, as well as Wapda City schemes in Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

“The matter is being treated with utmost urgency to conclude the inquiry,” the letter concludes.
