Pakistan’s National Meteorology Institute Gets Its Own Website

Pakistan’s National Meteorology Institute (NMIP) is going to receive its website soon. The Ministry of Science and Technology, which directed the website’s creation, will host a link to the NMIP site on their platform.

It is unclear what information and services the website will provide or when it will become available. Searching “Pakistan’s National Meteorology Institute (NMIP)” on Google does not show results for the websites as of yet.

Remember the website for Pakistan’s “Metrology” institute is not to be confused with the Meteorology Institute. Both of them go by the NMIP abbreviation.

We can expect easy access to weather information for the public, including forecasts, warnings, and historical data, aiding in safety and planning. It should also promote transparency by making information about the institute’s activities, services, and data readily available.

Dr. Zaheer Hussain, the newly appointed Director General, made the website a priority within his first week of joining the department. He sees the website as crucial in today’s digital world, stating that it acts as the “face” of any modern organization.

Dr. Hussain has also taken steps to improve the NMIP itself, instructing his team to prepare a PC-1 proposal. This proposal outlines plans to upgrade existing equipment and acquire new machinery to meet current technological standards.

  • Just look at their building and think for a moment how competent they could be.
People already have weather forecast on their phones who will prefer going to their website?
