Cheaper AI Laptops With Copilot Plus Are Coming This Month

Lenovo is poised to unveil a new lineup of budget-friendly Copilot Plus PCs at the upcoming IFA trade show later this week. Leaked marketing materials, shared by renowned tipster Evan Blass, reveal that the expanded Copilot Plus family will include two intriguing models powered by an as-yet-unannounced 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chip.

These upcoming laptops are also set to be cheaper than the current Copilot Plus PCs.

These Qualcomm-based additions are the IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1, a convertible laptop featuring a 14-inch OLED display, and the IdeaPad Slim 5x, a sleek clamshell laptop also offering a 14-inch OLED display option. Both devices will leverage the new 8-core variant of the Snapdragon X Plus chip, a departure from the standard 10-core configuration.

Lenovo IdeaPad 5x

Lenovo aims to make its Copilot Plus PCs more accessible with new, affordable models. The Slim 5x will start at $990, while the IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 will be priced from $1,100. Both models are expected to hit the market in September. This European pricing strategy suggests that these Copilot Plus PCs could be priced significantly lower than the current most affordable option, the Surface Laptop 7, which retails for $1,325.

In addition to the Qualcomm-powered models, Lenovo is expanding its Copilot Plus lineup with devices featuring Intel and AMD processors. The Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition, a 15-inch laptop, will be powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 2 chips. Meanwhile, the Yoga Pro 7 and IdeaPad Slim 5 will harness the power of AMD’s latest Ryzen processors.
