Police Stations in Punjab to Run on Solar Power

In a significant move towards renewable energy, all 737 police stations across Punjab, including those in Lahore, will be equipped with solar power systems.

According to 24NewsHD TV, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar announced that the solarization project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase involves installing solar systems at 350 police stations, including 40 in Lahore.

The second phase, planned for the next fiscal year, will extend the installation to an additional 375 police stations. Each station will receive a 3-kilowatt system with batteries.

Following the police stations, service centers, and Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) posts will also be outfitted with solar systems. Moreover, 10-kilowatt solar systems are being installed at check posts in the ‘Kacha’ areas.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Punjab government in collaboration with the Energy Department, aims to save billions of rupees while promoting environmental sustainability.

Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that the installation of these solar systems will not only reduce costs but also contribute to environmental protection.
