Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Confirms Date for 12th Rabiul Awwal

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that the 12th of Rabiul Awwal will be observed on Tuesday, September 17, as the moon for the Islamic month was not sighted.

The committee, led by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, convened in Islamabad to determine the new moon’s visibility. Despite efforts, no reports of the moon sighting were received from any part of the country, including major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

With the Islamic month set to begin on Friday, September 6, the celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will take place on September 17.

Religious scholars from various Islamic schools of thought, along with weather experts, attended the meeting. Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad confirmed that although the weather was clear in some regions and cloudy in others, no sightings were reported.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued an official notification to confirm the findings.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) is celebrated by Muslims worldwide on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
