Xiaomi has expanded its outdoor security camera lineup with the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition.
The new model combines dual 3K cameras, 4G connectivity, a large built-in battery, and solar charging, allowing it to operate without a fixed power connection or Wi-Fi network.
It joins Xiaomi’s existing Smart Outdoor Camera 4 4G and the Smart Outdoor Camera 4 Pro Triple-Cam Zoom Edition.
The camera contains a 9,900 mAh battery, which Xiaomi says can provide more than one week of use on a single charge.
It also comes with a 7.6W solar panel.
Under normal sunlight conditions, the panel can continue charging the camera and reduce the need for manual recharging.
The Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G has two 5MP cameras capable of recording at 3K resolution.
Both lenses have an f/1.6 aperture and use white and infrared lights for low-light monitoring.
The camera can automatically activate the appropriate light when it detects a person.
The camera supports two 4G SIM cards.
This allows it to stream video and send notifications without relying on Wi-Fi.
The setup is intended for locations where wired internet or a stable wireless network is not available.
The Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G supports AOV, or Always-On Video, intelligent recording.
Instead of recording at full frame rate continuously, the camera changes its recording rate based on activity.
When no movement is detected, it records one frame every two seconds.
Xiaomi says this approach reduces storage use by more than 90 percent.
When the camera detects suspicious activity, it can activate a flashing light and play an audible warning.
It also sends a notification to the user through the Mi Home app.
Two-way voice communication allows users to speak directly to people near the camera.
The camera supports Xiaomi HyperConnect for integration with other compatible smart home devices.
It also carries an IP66 rating for protection against dust and water.
The Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition is available for crowdfunding through Xiaomi Youpin.
Its early-bird price starts at around $80.
Xiaomi has not announced wider retail availability or international pricing. But since Xiaomi gadgets regularly launch in Pakistan, there is a chance we will get to see it in the local market as well.
