Punjab Food Authority Seizes 500 KG of Meat of Sick Animals

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) thwarted an attempt to distribute 500kg of unhygienic meat from sick animals during a special raid on Monday.

PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid stated that acting on a tip-off, the authority raided a building in the Township area and seized 12.5 maunds of substandard meat concealed under the seats of a passenger van.

He confirmed that the PFA had disposed of the contaminated meat, which was intended for supply to various local food outlets. A case has been filed against the meat supplier for transporting meat from sick animals to shops, and one suspect has been handed over to the police.
