The Tourism Department of Punjab is planning to launch new, modern buses on September 27, coinciding with World Tourism Day. This initiative aims to ensure the administration swiftly implements tourism measures.
Initially, these fully air-conditioned double-decker buses were scheduled to start on August 14, but a delay from the department caused a postponement.
The buses, provided by the World Bank to boost tourism, have yet to arrive at the terminal. They were originally intended to operate on August 14 but will now be introduced on the new date.
Recently, the Punjab government has also been working on a glass train project, which will run between Rawalpindi and Bhurban in Murree.
A working group consisting of 18 departments has been formed under the leadership of the transport minister of Punjab, with key officials such as the Rawalpindi and Murree deputy commissioners.
The 65-kilometer train route will start from Saddar in Rawalpindi and pass through scenic areas like Margalla Hills and Barakahu before ending in Bhurban.
This project is part of the Murree Development Plan, and NESCOM is conducting a feasibility study to evaluate its costs and timeline.
The group is also tasked with addressing challenges like land acquisition for the train tracks and stations, ensuring the project is completed efficiently with minimal expenses.
