Realme, a prominent smartphone manufacturer, appears to be following in Apple’s footsteps with its latest innovation. Chase Xu, the company’s Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, recently teased a feature on an upcoming Realme device that resembles the iPhone 16 series’ new Camera Control button.
In a video posted on Weibo, Xu showcases what he describes as a “button” that isn’t a physical button. Instead, it’s a pressure-sensitive area equipped with a precise haptic motor, designed to mimic the sensation of pressing a physical button. This technology closely mirrors the approach taken by Apple in its latest flagship devices.
According to Xu’s demonstration, this new feature allows users to quickly launch the camera app and offers various in-app controls, including Zoom. While the current implementation may not appear as polished as Apple’s version, it’s important to note that Xu is likely demonstrating a pre-production sample. The feature will likely be further refined before the device’s official release.
In his Weibo post, Chase Xu suggests that Realme’s new feature employs technology similar to Apple’s Camera Control key. However, he clarifies that this innovation isn’t destined for the highly anticipated Realme GT7 Pro flagship. Instead, it appears to be slated for a different, as-yet-unannounced device in the company’s lineup.
Xu’s demonstration indicates that Realme has been developing this technology for some time, with the feature seemingly close to being market-ready.
