In a major step towards modernizing governance, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) and the Local Government, Elections, and Rural Development (LGERD) Department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to initiate the automation of Local Government operations.
This initiative falls under the broader Vision 2030 of Reform, Perform, and Transform, led by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aimed at digitizing public service delivery across the province.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Arshad Ayub, Minister of Local Government; Mr. Daud Khan, Secretary of Local Government; and Ms. Syeda Tanzeela, Secretary of Science, Technology & Information Technology (ST&IT). Speaking at the event, Minister Arshad Ayub expressed his strong support for the project, emphasizing the importance of digital transformation in governance. “Digital is the way forward for governance,” he stated, directing all relevant teams to provide full support for the successful implementation of the initiative.
As part of the agreement, six critical platforms will be developed to streamline various administrative and financial processes within the Local Government. These include:
These systems are designed to not only make operations more efficient but also to increase transparency and accountability in the way the Local Government functions. By digitizing these core processes, the initiative will ensure that public services are delivered more effectively, benefiting the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In addition to automating core operations, KPITB will also introduce its Paymir online payment platform to LGERD. This system will enable the automation of revenue receipts, fee collection, and invoicing processes. By integrating Paymir into LGERD’s operations, the government aims to simplify payments for citizens while boosting revenue generation for the province through secure, traceable digital transactions.
The system’s ability to streamline payments will not only ease the burden on citizens but also enhance the government’s ability to track and manage financial transactions efficiently. This is expected to significantly improve revenue collection and ensure greater accountability within the Local Government.
To further bolster the efficiency of these digital platforms, KPITB will develop a centralized performance management system and dashboard for LGERD. This dashboard will provide real-time insights into the progress of various operations and projects, enabling the government to trace responsibilities, monitor key performance indicators, and make data-driven decisions. The centralized monitoring system is a crucial element of ensuring transparency and accountability across all Local Government operations.
