2 Female Officers of Pakistan Army Receive UN Gender Advocacy Award

Major Sania Safdar and Major Komal Masood, two female peacekeepers from Pakistan, have been honored with the Gender Advocacy Award by the Under-Secretary-General of the Department of Peace Operations at UN Headquarters in New York. Major Safdar served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, while Major Masood was deployed in the Central African Republic.

The award acknowledges their exceptional professionalism and dedication to advancing the ideals of the United Nations. Both officers played a key role in promoting women’s meaningful participation in peacekeeping efforts and contributed significantly to peace and stability.

Their contributions have been recognized by the Mission Force Commanders, reflecting Pakistan’s strong commitment to the UN Peacekeeping mandate and the important role of its peacekeepers.
