This outcome has shifted Pakistan’s focus to the playoffs, where they will vie for a position between fifth and eighth place in the competition.
The quarterfinals kicked off with Indonesia’s Bagus Wahyu Purnama Komang taking on Pakistan’s Rashid Ali. Komang showcased his prowess on the court, swiftly defeating Ali with a decisive 6-0, 6-2 victory.
The match, lasting just 56 minutes, highlighted Komang’s dominance and left Ali struggling to find his rhythm. In the subsequent singles match, Pakistan’s Shayan Muhammad battled against Indonesia’s Ethan Jake Frans.
Despite a valiant effort, Shayan was unable to overcome Frans, who secured a 6-2, 6-2 win in a match that extended slightly over an hour. Frans’ consistent play and strategic acumen were evident throughout the encounter.
The doubles match saw Pakistan’s Muhammad Junaid Khan and Rashid Ali team up against the Indonesian pair of Komang and Frans.
The Indonesian duo maintained their winning streak, overpowering the Pakistani team with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in just 47 minutes.
Despite the setback, Pakistan’s journey in the tournament has been commendable, with earlier victories against Saudi Arabia and Thailand in the group stage.
