US Embassy Official’s Phone With Sensitive Data Stolen in Islamabad

An official from the US embassy became a victim of street crime when his mobile phone was snatched in Islamabad, police revealed on Saturday.

The incident, recorded in an FIR at Sumbal police station, occurred when Ishtiaq Hussain Shah, an employee of the US Embassy, was using his phone to book a ride near Choongi No 26. A motorcyclist suddenly appeared and snatched the phone.

The stolen device, provided by the embassy for work purposes, contained sensitive and confidential information, according to Mr. Hussain.

The police indicated that the embassy official expressed concerns about the potential access of unauthorized individuals to the data on the phone. He has urged the authorities to retrieve the phone to safeguard the information.

This case has highlighted growing concerns about the surge in street crime across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where an increase in such incidents has left citizens anxious and questioning the ability of law enforcement to ensure public safety.
