Journalist Issued Warning for Disrespectful Question to Shan Masood [Video]

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood found himself at the center of an uncomfortable incident during a recent press conference when a journalist posed a shockingly disrespectful question.

During the press interaction,  journalist Javed Iqbal aimed a pointed and derogatory question at Masood, suggesting that he should consider stepping down due to the team’s recent poor performances.

He asked in Urdu,

You say that as long as you’re given the opportunity (to play and captain Pakistan), you will continue. But doesn’t your conscience and self-respect ever tell you that you’re losing, not being able to perform, quit and leave?

The question left Shan Masood visibly taken aback. After briefly exchanging a glance with PCB Media Manager Sami ul Hasan, the captain chose not to engage, maintaining his composure and moving on to other questions.

However, as the press conference concluded, the PCB manager addressed the incident directly, issuing a stern reminder to journalists about maintaining professionalism when speaking to the national team captain.

“The captain of Pakistan is seated, feel free to ask your questions, but please show respect. Particularly, I am referring to Javed. It was not the appropriate way of asking the Pakistan captain the question that you asked,” Sami ul Hasan stated firmly.

Shan Masood has been under mounting pressure since taking over the captaincy from Babar Azam. During his tenure, Pakistan has suffered five consecutive Test defeats. Despite these challenges, Shan has remained committed to his leadership role, emphasizing the need to back his players, even in difficult times. He stated, “It’s easy to make changes after a loss, but if we want to move forward, we must back our players.”
