Private Schools in Rawalpindi and Islamabad Announce Decision Regarding 4 October Holiday

The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association of Northern Punjab has announced the closure of schools in Rawalpindi City tomorrow in light of a potential political protest by a major party in Islamabad.

Abrar Ahmed Khan, President of the association, stated that the decision was made due to concerns for the safety of children and anticipated road blockages caused by containers set up for the protest. He emphasized that the priority is to ensure that students are not put at risk during the protest and its aftermath.

The situation stems from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest in Islamabad. As a precautionary measure, the Islamabad Private School Association has also declared the closure of all schools in Islamabad.

Waheed Khan, the General Secretary of the association, explained that the safety of students remains their primary concern. He mentioned that they had been in contact with the Deputy Commissioner to stay updated on the situation but added that no communication had occurred in the afternoon.

“Our priority is to keep students safe, and we do not want them to face unnecessary hardship due to road closures,” Waheed Khan remarked, highlighting the challenges already faced by students. According to him, many students encountered difficulties today as containers placed on roads created obstacles for them to reach their schools.

The closures serve as a proactive step to avoid further inconvenience or potential danger, ensuring that students are kept out of harm’s way as the city braces for potential disruptions from the political demonstration. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to determine further actions if necessary.
