Massive Theft of Diesel From PSO Pipeline Uncovered

Authorities have uncovered a large-scale fuel theft from a Pakistan State Oil (PSO) pipeline in Rawalpindi, with thieves making off with diesel worth over Rs 8 million. The theft took place over the past few months in the Humak area, and a formal complaint has been registered with the local police.

The PSO pipeline, which runs between the Sihala installation and Attock Refineries, had been experiencing irregular diesel flow since June 2024. A significant drop in fuel pressure led the company to suspect theft, and after several attempts to locate the source of the problem, PSO’s security team discovered suspicious activity near the pipeline.

The investigation revealed that the culprits had managed to tap into the pipeline and steal approximately 302,000 liters of diesel. This loss is estimated to be worth around Rs80 million. The case has been registered under Section 462-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which deals with tampering with petroleum pipelines.

Police and PSO officials are working together to trace the individuals responsible for the theft, which has raised concerns about the vulnerability of the fuel supply network in the area. Security around the pipelines has been tightened to prevent future incidents.
