Usman Khan Breaks List-A National Record

Top order batter Usman Khan has smashed a stunning double-hundred in the 2024-25 President’s Cup cup match between Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Eshaal Associates at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Usman scored a scintillating 201 runs off 132 balls at a brisk strike rate of 152.3. This monstrous innings now stands as the fastest-ever List-A double ton by a Pakistani batter.

Such a monumental achievement did not come without a price, however, with Khan retiring hurt following breaking the record.

Usman Khan will hope a knock like this will assure the selectors of his ability, having given up what was essentially guaranteed playing opportunities in the United Arab Emirates in order to reignite his dream of playing for Pakistan.

While initially highly successful in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), his form did not translate as smoothly to international cricket. Across 9 innings of T20 internationals, Usman Khan has only managed a paltry 117 runs, resulting in some rather unimpressive numbers of a 14.62 average at a strike rate of 128.57 at the international level, falling well short of expectations.

The top order batter will look to capitalize on this double ton and will be making sure to maintain this form with an eye on forcing his way into the international side.
