Mehran Mumtaz and Other Spinners Called for Fitness Test Before 2nd Test

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called up Mehran Mumtaz for a series of fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

Aside from Mehran Mumtaz, four other spinners, have been called up as the team management seeks to bolster its spin options for the upcoming second Test match between Pakistan and England in Multan.

The fitness assessments are being conducted over the next two days at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The results of these tests will be crucial in determining whether one or two of these spinners will be included in Pakistan’s squad for the second Test, scheduled to take place from October 15 to 19.

This move comes after spinners Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmood were released from the squad before the first Test due to not meeting the required fitness standards. Their absence has prompted the team management to explore other options, ensuring that the squad is well-prepared to face England’s formidable batting lineup.

The decision to conduct these fitness tests underscores the importance of physical conditioning in modern cricket, where fitness levels can significantly impact a player’s performance and the team’s overall strategy. The inclusion of fit and in-form spinners could provide Pakistan with a strategic advantage on the spin-friendly pitches of Multan.

As the first Test concludes on October 11, the team management is keen to finalize a squad that can effectively challenge England in the second Test match.
