The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly rejected allegations from a British newspaper that the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy might be moved from Lahore to Dubai, contingent on India’s qualification.
The PCB has emphasized its dedication to holding all tournament matches, including the final, in Pakistan. Despite the existing political tensions between India and Pakistan, the PCB remains resolute in its commitment to deliver a successful and smooth tournament.
“There is absolutely no truth to the reports suggesting that the Champions Trophy final could be moved outside Pakistan. We are working diligently to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are on track, and we are confident that Pakistan will be able to host a memorable event” a PCB Spokesperson has said.
The cricket board has begun significant upgrades to stadiums across Pakistan to prepare for the anticipated surge of fans and international players. These renovations are part of the PCB’s larger initiative to improve the country’s cricket infrastructure and establish Pakistan as a premier cricketing venue.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. Pakistan is placed in Group A, competing against powerhouse teams India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B includes England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently awaiting discussions with the Indian government to confirm its participation in matches held in Pakistan.
