PCB Set to Add Former Umpire Aleem Dar to Selection Committee

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced changes to its national selection committee, with former captain Azhar Ali and recently retired umpire Aleem Dar expected to join the panel.

This development comes in the wake of Muhammad Yousuf’s resignation from the committee two weeks ago, prompting a restructuring of the selection process.

According to sources, the PCB is finalizing the new lineup for the selection committee, with an official announcement anticipated soon. The revamped committee is set to include former fast bowler Aqib Javed and ex-captain Azhar Ali, who bring a wealth of experience and insight to the table. While ex-cricketer Asad Shafiq will retain his position on the committee.

In a notable addition, Aleem Dar, a former ICC elite umpire, is likely to be named to the committee. He will bring his extensive knowledge of the game and international experience to the selection process. Hasan Cheema is expected to serve as the team’s data analyst, providing statistical insights to aid in decision-making, while Aqib Javed will oversee other key matters within the committee.

In addition to his role on the selection committee, Azhar Ali is likely to be tasked with youth development responsibilities, reflecting the PCB’s focus on nurturing emerging talent and building a strong foundation for the future of Pakistani cricket.

The current selection committee includes the team captain, head coach, Asad Shafiq, and five non-voting members. However, the specific roles and responsibilities of these individuals in the new committee structure have yet to be detailed by the PCB. An announcement regarding these roles is expected in the coming week.
