Apple to Launch a Much Cheaper Vision Pro Headset in 2025

While Apple’s Vision Pro headset hasn’t yet made a huge splash, the company remains committed to mixed reality technology. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple may release a new, more affordable mixed-reality headset as soon as next year.

This new version is expected to be priced around $2,000, significantly less than the $3,500 Vision Pro. Cost savings will reportedly come from using less expensive materials, a less powerful processor, and the removal of the EyeSight external eye display.

Apple is also looking ahead to 2026 for a second-generation Vision Pro release, with the possibility of smart glasses similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans and camera-equipped AirPods arriving in 2027, according to the report.

Gurman’s report also sheds light on Apple’s renewed smart home efforts. Despite previous setbacks, Apple is reportedly developing a budget-friendly, iPad-like display for home use. This device would allow users to watch TV, make FaceTime calls, and run apps. A more advanced tabletop device with a robotic arm, potentially priced around $1,000, is also reportedly in development.

Ahead of all these releases, Apple is gearing up to launch the next generation of its MacBook Pros later this month. These MacBooks will be powered by Apple’s M4 chips, which will be capable of enhanced AI tasks and more. These MacBook laptops will be joined by new iMacs as well as Mac desktop computers with new colors.
