Vivo X200 Pro and Pro Mini Bring Top Tier Performance in a Compact Package

In a timely release, Vivo has unveiled its latest flagship offerings: the X200 Pro and the X200 Pro mini. These new devices mark a significant departure from their predecessors, focusing on key areas such as design aesthetics, imaging capabilities, video performance, processing power, and battery life.

Despite the Mini in its name, the X200 Pro Mini is still bigger than Samsung and Apple’s vanilla flagships. Here are the details.

Design and Display

Vivo X200 Pro

The X200 series represents a shift in design, moving away from the curvaceous form factor of the X100 lineup towards a more streamlined profile. The X200 Pro boasts a Quad Curved 6.78-inch display, which, despite its name, actually presents a flatter appearance than its predecessor. This expansive screen is framed by impressively thin bezels, measuring a mere 1.63mm on all sides.

The display features an LTPO panel capable of dynamically adjusting its refresh rate going up to a smooth 120Hz. It also brings excellent sunlight viewing, reaching a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and supports Dolby Vision for an enhanced visual experience.

Vivo X200 Pro Mini

In contrast, the X200 Pro mini caters to those who prefer a more compact form factor, sporting a 6.31-inch flat display. Other display specifications are the same between the two.

Internals and Software

Both the X200 Pro and X200 Pro mini are powered by the cutting-edge MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. Built on MediaTek’s second-generation 3nm process, the Dimensity 9400 boasts a formidable Cortex-X925 super core that can reach speeds of up to 3.626GHz. Complementing this processing prowess is a 12-core GPU, promising an exceptional gaming experience for users.

On the software front, Vivo has equipped both Pro models with its latest OriginOS 5. This updated operating system introduces AI features, including Origin Island and AI Circle to Search.

Cameras

Both models feature a primary camera equipped with the Sony LYT-818 sensor, a 1/1.28-inch imager backed by the V3+ imaging chip, the same as the X100 Ultra. This main camera is paired with a custom f/1.57 lens, enhanced by Optical Precision Calibration technology, which is probably just Vivo’s version of OIS.

While technically smaller than the 1-inch sensor found in the X100 Pro series, Vivo asserts that this new configuration rivals its predecessor in photo quality and surpasses it in video performance.

Both models can capture 4K HDR Cinematic Portrait video, a feature Vivo claims is industry-leading. The devices offer versatile video options, including 4K recording at up to 120fps for dramatic slow-motion effects, or 4K HDR Dolby Vision at 60fps for stunning, high-dynamic-range footage.

A standout feature of the X200 Pro is its 200MP Zeiss APO telephoto camera, identical to the impressive unit found in the X100 Ultra. This telephoto lens offers an 85mm equivalent focal length (3.7x zoom) with a bright f/2.67 aperture. The X200 Pro mini, while still capable, opts for a more modest 50MP 1/1.95-inch sensor with a 70mm f/2.6 lens, providing 3x optical zoom.

Rounding out the camera system on both models are a 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide camera with autofocus capabilities and a 32MP f/2.0 front-facing camera for high-quality selfies.

Battery and Pricing

The X200 Pro series brings Vivo’s implementation of third-generation Silico Anode battery technology, which allowed for larger battery capacities in both models. The X200 Pro houses a substantial 6,000 mAh battery, while its compact counterpart, the X200 Pro mini, manages to incorporate a 5,700 mAh unit. Despite their different sizes, both models offer identical charging capabilities, supporting 90W wired and 30W wireless charging, ensuring users can quickly replenish their devices when needed.

The X200 Pro has a starting price of $748 in China while the X200 Pro Mini can be grabbed for $663. It is unclear when the phones will reach the international market.
