Vivo’s Latest Flagship X Series Has Arrived Along With a Mini Model

Vivo’s flagship X200 series has just become official in China including the vanilla X200, X200 Pro, and the X200 Pro Mini. Even though the Pro models got more love as always, the vanilla model keeps some of the specifications from its siblings.

We will cover the Pro models in a separate article.

Design and Display

In a move that mirrors its larger Pro counterpart, the X200 showcases the same 6.67-inch quad-curved display. This screen, enhanced with Zeiss Natural Color technology, promises enhanced color accuracy. The 10-bit LTPS panel, complete with HDR10+ support, employs high-frequency PWM dimming to eliminate flicker while boasting an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits.

Remarkably, this display is engineered to outlast typical OLED panels by three years, all while consuming less power. It’s worth noting that the non-Pro variant opts for an optical fingerprint reader. The phone now has IP69 rating, up from Vivo X100’s IP68.

Internals and Software

Under the hood, the X200 is driven by the recently unveiled flagship Dimensity 9400 chipset, a processor that has been making waves in performance benchmarks. This second-generation 3nm chip, featuring an innovative all-big-core design, is the result of a collaborative effort between Vivo, ARM, and MediaTek.

At its core, the Dimensity 9400 boasts a prime Cortex-X925 core clocked at a blistering 3.626 GHz. This powerhouse is complemented by up to 16 GB of RAM, which can be effectively doubled through virtual RAM technology. Storage options include 256 GB, 512 GB, or a whopping 1TB which can be further expanded thanks to Vivo’s proprietary storage compression technology.

Chinese users get Funtouch OS 5 on top of Android 14, but international variants should come with Funtouch OS. New features in Origin OS 5 include Vivo’s version of Circle to Search and Apple’s Dynamic Island called Origin Island. Chinese models also get Vivo’s AI model for note-taking and copywriting. It is unclear if or when Funtouch OS will get the same features.

Cameras

The X200 has a powerful camera system, headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor. While this 1/1.56″ sensor may be smaller than the LYT-818 found in the Pro models, it’s on par with the sensor used in the X100. The main camera is complemented by a Zeiss lens with a wide f/1.57 aperture and T* coating.

Housed within the Oreo-style camera island is a 70mm telephoto lens. This f/2.57 aperture lens, also featuring T* coating, is paired with a 50MP IMX882 sensor measuring 1/1.95″. Although it doesn’t boast the 200MP resolution of its Pro counterparts, it still offers impressive zoom capabilities. Rounding out the trio is a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 15mm focal length.

For selfies, you get a 32MP ultrawide unit capable of 4K 60 FPS video recording.

Battery and Pricing

Powering the X200 is a robust 5,800 mAh BlueVolt battery, a significant 800 mAh increase from its predecessor, the X100. This larger capacity, however, comes with a trade-off in charging speed. The X200 supports 90W wired charging, a step down from the 120W capability of last year’s model, though 90W is not exactly slow either.
