Real Madrid has assured full support to forward Kylian Mbappe after the French footballer recently landed in legal trouble in Sweden.
According to the reports in Swedish media, Mbappe is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault while spending time in Stockholm during his time away from national and club duties.
The reports of dissension between the club and the player started heating up when the forward was absent from the club’s promotional campaign with kit manufacturer Adidas. Real Madrid was quick to explain the 25-year-old’s absence as he holds a personal sponsorship with Nike, a direct competitor of Adidas.
Madrid has also reportedly called Mbappe’s ongoing case as “the biggest fake in the history of sport.”
However, this explanation was questioned on social media, where many pointed out that other players featured in the photos, such as Mbappe’s teammate Eduardo Camavinga, are also sponsored by Nike.
Despite the hoopla surrounding the Frenchmen, Mbappe trained with Real Madrid as he looks to get back into the playing XI following an injury layoff.
He is expected to be available for selection on Saturday against Celta Vigo at the Bernabéu, having recovered from a thigh issue that kept him out of France’s recent Nations League matches.
Mbappe has scored 7 goals in 11 appearances for the club since his much-hyped move to the Spanish capital from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
