Ronaldo Offered Ngannou Encouragement Ahead of MMA Return

Former UFC World Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou had Cristiano Ronaldo in his corner ahead of his return to MMA against Renan Ferreira, the Cameroonian’s coach has revealed.

Eric Nicksick offered an inside scoop on the atmosphere surrounding the 38-year-old’s return during PFL’s “Battle of the Giants” PPV, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo offered words of encouragement to Ngannou mostly related to the passing of his infant son, Kobe.

“He was talking about the loss of one of his children and how he related to that. I know how big of a star he is, but sitting next to me and having this very personal conversation made him feel like he was part of the team right then and there.” Nicksick said. “His son [Cristiano Jr] was in there with us and hanging out, so it was very much a welcomed energy to have in the room, especially someone of that stature who understands the highest pressure.”

Ronaldo’s word seemed to work wonders as Ngannou rolled to a KO win in his PFL debut.

After his victory, an emotional Francis Ngannou broke down as he reflected on his late son. “All I can think about is my son, Kobe,” Ngannou said through tears. “I only took this fight for him, and now, I’m done.”

Cristiano Ronaldo and Francis Ngannou have enjoyed a budding bromance ever since the formers move to Al Nassr and the latter’s regular fights scheduled in Saudi Arabia.
