Mohammad Rizwan Joins Elite List of Test Wicket-Keepers

Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan etched his name into Pakistan’s history books during the third and final Test against England at Rawalpindi.

During the second day’s play, Rizwan became just the 5th Pakistani wicket-keeper to cross the 2000 run barrier in Test matches for his country. The 32-year-old got there in his 57th inning.

With this feat, Mohammad Rizwan joins an elite list of Pakistan’s top wicketkeeper-batters with former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed leading the side.

Despite his achievement, Rizwan’s innings ended on a sour note as he was dismissed by Rehan Ahmed for 25 leaving his side in a spot of bother against the visitors.

Pakistan, at lunch, sits at 187/7 in pursuit of England’s 267 in the first innings. Rizwan will be hoping for redemption in the second innings if the need arises to not only climb the scoring ranks but to help Pakistan win their first series at home in quite some time.

With more responsibility seemingly coming his way, this Test might be the barometer for his upcoming success in white-ball cricket as well.

Most Runs by Pakistan Wicketkeeper-Batters in Test Cricket:

1 Sarfaraz Ahmed 3031 runs
2 Kamran Akmal 2648
3 Moin Khan 2581
4 Imtiaz Ahmed 2010
5 Mohammad Rizwan 2009
