Virat Kohli Now Holds an Unwanted Indian Batting Record

Indian cricketing icon Virat Kohli has surpassed the great Sachin Tendulkar in record books again, however this time it is one he might not be exactly proud of.

Following his LBW dismissal by Mitchell Santner in the second innings of the second Test of India’s series against New Zealand in Pune, it was pointed out that Virat Kohli had now been dismissed LBW a total of 25 times in tests in India.

As a result, he now holds the record for most LBW dismissals in India. Behind Kohli is legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar with 23 dismissals of a similar nature.

This follows a somewhat turbulent time for Virat Kohli and by extension India. Kohli, who despite putting up a solid score of 70 in the 2nd innings of the first test against New Zealand has had a bizarre run of form as of late.

During India’s recent series against Bangladesh, spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped Virat Kohli in front on the second day of the first Test in Chennai. Following a brief chat with Shubman Gill, Kohli opted against reviewing the decision, which later turned out to be unwise as replays showed the ball had hit his bat.

Additionally, in the first innings of the ongoing Test in Pune, Virat Kohli got bowled by a full toss of all deliveries, also bowled by Mitchell Santner.

With India struggling in the series against New Zealand, Kohli’s troubling form has seemingly continued with him being dismissed for low scores of 1 and 17 in the second Test against the Kiwis.
