Olympic Gold Medalist Imane Khelif Set to Turn Pro

Algerian boxing sensation, Imane Khelif who captured the world’s attention with her gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is now preparing to embark on a new journey in professional boxing.

Despite facing intense scrutiny and controversy regarding her gender during the 2024 Paris Games, Khelif has remained resolute, earning widespread admiration and support from fans across the globe.

Khelif’s path to Olympic glory was not without its hurdles. Earlier this year, she faced significant challenges when the International Boxing Association (IBA) disqualified her from the 2023 World Championships due to unfounded speculation about her gender.

These rumors threatened to overshadow her Olympic aspirations. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stood firmly by her side, allowing her to compete in Paris, where she triumphed in the women’s welterweight division, securing a gold medal.

On October 20, during a press conference, Khelif announced her intention to transition to professional boxing. “I will soon enter the world of professional boxing. While she has yet to finalize a deal with a specific promotion, Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has already expressed interest in signing her.

Khelif’s preparation for the professional arena is being meticulously guided by her coach, Dr. Pedro Diaz, who has been instrumental in her development since February of last year.

Diaz recently shared a video on Instagram showcasing Khelif’s impressive agility and footwork, captioning it, “Mastering the art of movement with Imane Khelif—focusing on angles and footwork to control every inch of the ring.” The footage quickly went viral, with fans expressing their excitement and support for Khelif’s upcoming professional career.
