A district and sessions court in Karachi acquitted the female driver on Thursday in a murder case related to a fatal car accident on Karsaz Road, following a reconciliation agreement between both families.
The accident occurred on August 19, when a Toyota Land Cruiser crashed into three motorcycles and another car near the Pakistan Maritime Museum. The incident led to the deaths of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter, Amna, and injured three others. The driver was initially charged with manslaughter and was arrested.
On September 6, the driver secured bail after receiving a pardon from the victims’ family. The sessions court formally acquitted her after both parties confirmed the settlement in court.
The driver’s lawyer, Amir Mansoob Qureshi, stated that the court accepted the compromise and dismissed the case. He also noted that this outcome might impact her separate drug-related case, suggesting that without the primary offense in the murder case, related drug charges might also be reconsidered.
The driver was not present in court for the hearing.
