Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is Designed Entirely by Fans

Nothing has cultivated a unique bond with its community, aiming to involve fans in ways that go beyond traditional smartphone companies. Six months ago, Nothing invited its community to participate in creating a limited edition of the Nothing Phone (2a), which eventually evolved into the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus.

This collaboration included four distinct stages, where winners worked alongside the Nothing team to develop their ideas. The final product, a glow-in-the-dark edition inspired by fireflies, requires only daylight to glow—no power from the phone itself.

The unique design came to life thanks to the efforts of community members like Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki, who collaborated with Nothing’s designers. Here is what it looks like.

Andrés Mateos contributed six custom wallpapers to match the look, Ian Henry Simmonds redesigned the packaging, and Sonya Palma created a promotional campaign with the tagline “Find your light. Capture your light.”

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition will be available in all of Nothing’s markets at around $530, priced the same as the standard model. However, only 1,000 units will be produced, so interested buyers need to register at nothing.tech before sales begin on November 12 to secure a chance to purchase one.

Buyers in Pakistan will have to rely on unofficial imports to get their hands on the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition.
