Australia’s Mitchell Starc entered the record books during the first ODI against Pakistan in Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Australia’s pace spearhead picked up his 100th wicket on home soil when he dismissed Saim Ayub to join the likes of Brett Lee, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, and Craig McDermott on the list. Sitting on 99 wickets, Mithell Starc did not have to wait long for his first scalp as he dismissed debuting Saim Ayub for just one run in his second over with a fuller bowl that took Ayub’s inside edge to rattle his stumps.
Starc now ranks fifth among Australian bowlers for most ODI wickets taken at home.
Bowler | Innings | Wickets |
Brett Lee | 94 | 169 |
Glenn McGrath | 95 | 160 |
Shane Warne | 83 | 134 |
Craig McDermott | 88 | 125 |
Mitchell Starc | 54 | 102 |
Starc finished the first innings by adding Abdullah Shafique and Shaheen Afridi to the list, finishing with impressive figures of 10-3-31-3 to help restrict Pakistan to 203/10.
The 34-year-old has 244 ODI wickets to his name and with home conditions usually favoring his type of bowling, Mitchell Stark is guaranteed to add a lot more to his name before he calls time on his career.
