In the latest Henley Passport Index, Pakistan’s passport remains among the lowest-ranked in the world, positioned below conflict-hit nations like Palestine. This poor ranking, currently at 102, is attributed to Pakistan’s strict visa restrictions, security concerns, and weaker diplomatic relations, all limiting global access for its citizens.
The Pakistani passport allows visa-free entry to just 33 countries, with only Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan ranking below. For almost five years, the green passport has held one of the lowest positions, behind nations such as Liberia, Somalia, Sudan, Haiti, and Chad.
On the other hand, Singapore tops the index, granting its citizens visa-free access to 195 destinations out of 227. Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain share the second spot, with access to 192 destinations.
The Henley Passport Index, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and research by Henley & Partners, highlights how diplomatic strength influences travel access. The recently released Global Mobility Report 2024 delves into these rankings, showing a widening gap in travel freedom across regions.
